Any thoughts on a Nathan Drake PSP Game of the Year?

According to a recent discussion with Joystiq.com, Naughty Dog’s very own, Evan Wells, touched on the subject of bringing Nathan Drake to the pocket handheld PlayStation Portable. Due to the recent slew of Game of the Year awards, this may be a great addition to a handheld platform library that many have criticized as poor.

“I think it would be fantastic to see the game (move) onto a handheld system,” Wells told us. “Each one of the episodes is sort of like a standalone thing and I think we could do that pretty easily. If we can find a partner to work with, I’d love to do that … we definitely wouldn’t do it ourselves. We’re trying to just focus on the PS3 technology and platform right now.” He added, laughing, “But, if we can’t find a partner, then maybe we’re going to have to find a budget ourselves.”

As a personal owner of the PlayStation Portable, I embrace this idea with open arms. After all, you can never get enough of Drake or his pals.

  1. How would the graphics and gameplay mechanics translate to PSP, though? I don’t know about this.

  2. did my comments get deleted -_-?

@Reneid: MGS has been able to do it

but yeah, im all in for a PSP Uncharted! itll help out with the psp sales as well

  3. Hell yeah. If the core gameplay is intact, I’ll be happy. I’d roll on the floor if I could play Uncharted on the way to work.

  4. They’d have to find a creative way to translate the game, but if anyone can do it it’s Naughty Dog.

But seeing as most Playstation franchises are also on the PSP, I don’t see why Nathan Drake isn’t on the PSP already.

I just don’t like the idea of having a shooter on a handheld. Granted I’ve never tried one, it just doesn’t seem like the controls would be even worth fighting with.

I am glad they mentioned that they themselves wouldn’t bother with creating it. I want their total attention on Uncharted 3 and trying to surpass Among Thieves in every way possible. Perhaps Ready at Dawn could be an ideal team seeing as they did a terrific job for Chains of Olympus.

  6. Psp need another Analog stick. I rather play an Uncharted rpg than a shooter.

  7. I don’t know. Part of the magic of the Uncharted franchise are the awesome graphics, which help you be more immersed on the experience.

Without that gameplay is not that incredible to support a whole game (In my opinion, don’t start the flaming xD).

  8. I don’t know, i had bad taste after playing resistance on PSP, though i have to agree loved MGS series on it, so if they follow that road, then i am, in

  9. would be kinda weird, but very interesting to see

  10. Possibly like resistance retribution.

  11. im all up 4 it

  12. I’m not too big a fan of shooters on the PSP. I’ve loved MGS:PO, but that’s mostly because I’m a huge MGS fanboy.
