Dead Space 2 officially announced

EA has officially announced Visceral Games’ sequel to the award-winning horror game Dead Space. The developer is currently working on Dante’s Inferno, a promising action game that comes to the PlayStation 3 in February next year.

Today EA announced Dead Space 2, where Isaac Clarke will return for another heart-pounding adventure as he takes the fight to the Necromorphs.

Debuting new tools to slice and dice his enemies, Dead Space 2 will see Isaac wield his infamous plasma cutter.

Nick Earl, senior VP and group general manager at EA, commented:

Like so many gamers worldwide, we love the Dead Space franchise and are very excited to announce a new game in the series.

Visceral Games is quickly becoming known for delivering high-quality, action-packed games. Dead Space 2 is on target to deliver a jaw-dropping experience gamers won’t soon forget.

Dead Space launched in 2008, enjoying a metacritic just one point off 90/100. It also showed how a modern horror video game should be done, embarrassing Capcom’s Resident Evil 5.

Steve Papoutsis, executive producer on Dead Space 2, added:

We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey.

The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing.

In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.

Dead Space 2 is in development for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A release date has yet to be announced, but remember that PS3 gamers can get their hands on a Dante’s Inferno demo this Thursday.
