Two months ago we kicked off the new community initiative where contributing members are given the opportunity to win a free $20 PSN Card. Despite some bumps in the road in regards to spam, everything went pretty well and we’re going to continue the idea into this month as well.
During February, I did disqualify 3-4 people due to prolific amounts of mass commenting that is handled on a case-by-case basis. All of the Top 10 users comment histories were gone through to make sure the five strongest contributors were chosen for the drawing and the winner was chosen. However, in March, nobody was disqualified.

Very nice, I know I didn’t make it but it’s a good way to reward the community for sure. It just doesn’t feel right posting so much knowing that most of my posting will be done towards this contest (granted I did join after I read about this, haha :p)

As long as you’re contributing on a positive note, that’s all that matters man. I gave out bonus points to a lot of people when going through the histories for just adding good info to the conversation. The person who won the $20, wasn’t even in the Top 5 at the end of the month. Bonus points moved them up enough, while point deductions moved some people down for unnecessary spamming.
Stronger contributors will always get noticed

Except for the occasional spammer, I’m behind this idea 100%. Those that don’t win are still rewarded by being able to engage in intelligent and meaningful conversation. Win-win.

Mmmh, as I said in some other post: There is a difference between a thoutful comment and a spamming comment xD.
At least I try to contribute something with the comments I post, and I know moccows, taus90 and sonyjunkie do the same (Those are the ones I remember the most)
