Is this Gran Turismo 5 or real-life? [UPDATE]

47 Comments | posted

Gran Turismo 5 is certainly shaping up to be one hell of a sim racer. Coming to the PlayStation 3 this November, the game’s premium cars approach reality, so we thought we’d give you a quick little test to see if you could tell GT5 from reality.

GT5′s premium cars are a site to behold – even if its standard cars a little less impressive. The game’s graphics make comparing it with reality very hard – we’ve already had a good look at how the game shapes up against real-life. So what do you think of these ones? You can compare the images to shots of GT5 here.

Gran Turismo 5 or real-life? Tell us in the comments section. No prizes, just pride. I’ll let you know in a day or two.

[UPDATE] - Annnd…it’s real. Sorry to get your hopes up, but these are screenshots of the Porsche 911 Hybrid in real-life. The big clue is that it’s a Porsche – as many of you correctly said, this manufacturer will not be in GT5.

So why the Gran Turismo decal on the car? Well, the 991 Hybrid raced in the Nurburgring 24 hours, which was sponsored by GT5. All cars had to sport the logo. So thanks for playing, and well done to those of you who were right!
