Mass Effect 3 official box art, co-op multiplayer being explored

Electronic Arts and Bioware have unleashed the official box art for their upcoming sci-fi sequel Mass Effect 3. Also, rumor has it that Bioware Montreal is preparing a multiplayer experience for the title featuring up to four-player cooperative gameplay.

According to a source close to Eurogamer, BioWare Montreal is creating “a multiplayer Mass Effect experience,” either as a “standalone game or component of Mass Effect 3.”

When asked if the game had four-player co-op at E3, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka said, “We haven’t talked at all about multiplayer in the Mass Effect franchise, but we’re exploring multiplayer in all of our games and all of our franchises.”

“It’s always an idea we’re interested in,” he said. “The short answer is we have no comment on that. But we’re interested in the idea of multiplayer.”

The highly anticipated RPG hits PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on March 6, 2012. Check out the box art below.
