Mirror’s Edge 2 Still in Early Stages

For those of you who were fans of the first Mirror’s Edge, you may have been wondering: Where’s the sequel? Back in late 2009, it was even said that Mirror’s Edge 2 was in the works, and now we’re over a year later without as much as a squeak. Thanks to a recent interview with EA Games’ President Frank Gibeau, we now have a better idea as to where the game has gone.

We’re looking at ideas for it, absolutely. We just haven’t figured out the right way to bring it back yet.” said Gibeau. “It was a franchise that reached an audience, but it didn’t reach a large audience, and from a quality standpoint it was good, not great.”

“Working with DICE, we’re really trying to figure out a way of bringing Faith and the Mirror’s Edge property back, but we just really haven’t crafted the idea yet. We’re looking at it,” Gibeau concluded.

Although many gamers enjoyed Mirror’s Edge, the statistics back that it wasn’t as big a hit as originally expected by the publisher. That in mind, it’s understandable that they’re holding back in an effort to ensure better success in the future.

I’d like to leave you all with a question: What would you like to see in Mirror’s Edge 2?

  1. i would like to multi player and more freedom

  2. I wanna see a more open world, maybe a hubworld for levels. A level creator would also be awesome. On top of that, a multiplayer race mode would be cool, where you could try and trip up your opponent.

    Also, less combat.

This is one of my most anticipated games this generation. I loved the game. I would enjoy perhaps different runners in the game that you would have to play as in different cities. Maybe a runner in Madrid Spain, a runner in Tokyo Japan, a runner in Paris France, etc. The cities could all be recreated but modified to fit a more futuristic feel. You could have the story unfold sort of like how Heavy Rain was, where you play individual character parts for a while and then it would eventually all tie together in the end.

This could also have a sort of co-op option where you might have objectives to accomplish in the city and it all must be done in a certain time frame so you have to split up your team and make tactical decisions on which person goes after X package, etc. If all packages aren’t recovered and delivered in a set time, the mission fails and scores are awarded based on who contributed the most, died the least, got the most style points, etc.

There could be a freestyle mode where you do all sorts of insane tricks and your friends have to try to match them. You go back and forth, each person stringing their best tricks together and the the other person has to match it within, say, three tries. If they can they get one point if done in three tries, two if done in two, three if done in one. And if they can’t do it at all, the person that set up the trick gets a point and then it’s the other person’s turn.

Or the game could be a prequel. When you start off the game they mention “that fall took you out of action for a while” if I remember correctly. They can have the game focus on how she got to where she is today. Maybe it was a big mission that she failed and it plays up to that point and then flash forwards to her trying to finish the mission when the opportunity presents itself again.

I have a million ideas for the game and all of them are off the top of my head.

  4. a more open world aproach, so i could hawe fun getting to the mision point, and more fredom cuz the last game was wery much scripted
o yea and they should ceep floating staircases and elevators that lead to nowhere cuz it was fun to play with friends and ranting about how litle sence this level makes
