Assassin’s Creed II hasn’t managed to beat out Modern Warfare 2 in the UK charts, despite Infinity Ward’s game suffering a massive 86 per cent drop in sales following its launch week.
Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 has kept its place at the top of the UK All Formats Chart this week, even though the game’s sales have dropped by 86 per cent.
This means that Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 2 has only entered the charts at number two. We previously reported that the sequel is selling faster than the franchise’s debut, but this wasn’t enough for the latest entry to top the charts. In the UK, Assassin’s Creed 2 sold 12 per cent more units than its predecessor.
However, the Xbox 360 version of Ubisoft’s game did in fact outsell the PlayStation 3 version of Modern Warfare 2, showing that Microsoft’s console still shows some authority over Sony’s platform when it comes to certain pieces of software.
Both games gave the Nintendo Wii’s New Super Mario Bros. a slapping, debuting behind them both in third place.
Codemasters’ F1 2009 enters at number eleven, though the PSP only enjoyed 19 per cent of the game’s sales (the rest went to the Wii). The PSP’s LittleBigPlanet attempts to do Sackboy proud with a launch position of only number 38.
