Hihtek asks: Do you feel somewhat guilty that I got fired from my job for calling in sick countless times due to my U2 addiction?

We definitely don’t want to hear about that happening! We want to create games that keep our audiences engrossed as deeply as possible, along with doing the best we can to make sure that you don’t want to put down the controller at any point in our game. Regardless, we wouldn’t want anyone’s real life situations to suffer as a consequence.

What games have the Dogs been playing? What titles have stood out for you in the past year? And what games impress you technically on PS3 and other systems?

There are so many gaming interests among all the Dogs at the studio, from indie games to more mainstream fare and everything in between. We could go on and on about what we’ve been playing and what’s stood out to us and why.

However, recently we’ve definitely been checking out the Halo: Reach beta and many of us are playing Red Dead Redemption in our spare time, when we have spare time. That’s just one example of many of games we play for fun and also because they’re doing very interesting things in the single-player and multiplayer spaces.

All Naughty Dog’s lead protagonists have been Male, might you change this formula?

There’s no reason why we couldn’t have a female lead in some future project if it is the right decision with respect to the overall narrative we develop.

Finally, how involved is Naughty Dog in the creation of the Uncharted movie and why isn’t Nolan North going to play Nathan Drake?

We do work relatively close with Arad Productions – for example, we get to see scripts, we consult on helping with background on our characters and the universe – so we do feel involved with the project. At the end of the day, making top-notch video games is our core discipline and what we’re good at; while on the flip side, Arad Productions, Columbia Pictures and everyone involved with the feature film are extremely skilled at what they do, so we absolutely trust them to make the right decisions to not only make great films, but to make a great UNCHARTED film.
