Quantic Dream working on “two very different projects”

From previous reports it was thought that Quantic Dream had dropped most of their previous work to get PlayStation Move motion controls into Heavy Rain. The team had planned a number of new downloadable chapters for the game, but instead Moved their work to motion control. Well it turns out that the team has been hard at work on more than just that.

According to Quantic Dream’s David Cage, the developer is working on more than one project (presumably not including adding motion controls to Heavy Rain). Cage told Nicholas Michetti of the Examiner:

“We currently work on two very different projects. After the success of Heavy Rain, we continue to explore how we can go further with interactive drama, working on emotion and interactive storytelling for a mature audience, but with a very different story and a different approach. I think that people who enjoyed Heavy Rain will be surprised by what we prepare. Quantic Dream also explores how to use what we learned about emotion on Heavy Rain in very different types of experiences.”

And Quantic Dream is excited by the titles they’re working on:

“Often, after a long and challenging project like Heavy Rain, it is difficult for the team to get excited again about a new idea. This is absolutely not the case at the moment at Quantic and all the team seems enthusiastic about the possibility of other projects. The team and the company continue to grow in experience, confidence and talent.”

The French developer won’t be taking the easy route, avoiding the fail safe options to continue their history of innovations:

“After Heavy Rain, we have some credibility in experimenting with new IPs and new concepts. We are not going to play it safe from now, we are going to use this credibility to continue to take risks, give ourselves exciting challenges and try to invent new ways of playing. I believe that this is what Quantic Dream’s fans expect us to do. It is also what keeps me passionate about what we are doing.”

So what could Quantic Dream be working on, and for which platforms?

  1. i just hope that their new projects are ps3 exclusive games because i dont want graphics and game content to be degraded or cut because of the inferior xbox 360 hardware and dvd 9 disc space

    xbl/psn – dylantalon

  2. yo guessed it! it’s Normad Soul 2!:)

  3. Hopefully this time they do the DLC at the same time and include it on the disc as most company’s are doing then charging for 100kb unlock codes later. That’s the reason they dropped Heavy Rain like a bad habit.

  4. I still need to get Heavy Rain. I’m actually thinking about getting it at the end of this month or beggining of next month.

  5. They need to make the next game a comedy, I watched my kid beat HR and I instantly got bored playing my own game, it’s like a good movie you can watch once and that’s it.. If it were more like a funny ass movie it would have more replay value… maybe. 🙂

imo HR is a good rent title, but a poor investment to buy.

they should do a heavy rain style game about solders in WWII or Iraq (kinda like saving private ryan) that type of setting would have lots of potential for emotional moments, difficult decisions and action!
