Rockstar scales back E3 plans

4 Comments | posted

If you’re one of those gamers expecting Grand Theft Auto V to be announced and revealed at E3 2010, you may want to stop holding your breath and start breathing again. According to a Rockstar representative, the company plans on scaling back its E3 offerings this year in favor of press events to be held later on at the company’s headquarters.

“In the end, we feel we simply don’t have enough time to show as much as we would like in the time available,” a spokesperson said.

Be sure to take note that Rockstar did previously mention earlier this year that it had big plans in store for PlayStation 3 owners, so perhaps they have plans on allowing Sony to show something off during its conference instead. Who knows? We’ll find out more at E3 obviously.

I was scared for a sec that we wouldn’t see anything on The Agent or L.A. Noire. At least I know that it’s only for unannounced titles.

Guarantee you both Sony and Microsoft will show off Rock Star games at their respective conferences.
    ex.)
Microsoft: Show off GTA V w/ timed exclusive DLC.
Sony: Show off Agent and L.A Noire.

I really doubt that MS will be showing off GTA5. With the team at Rockstar North now officially making a playstation exclusive and the comments they made on making 4 about having to downgrade the PS3 version due to the 360′s peformance differences… I REALLY doubt they would let MS show off GTA5 back to back with Sony showing off Agent. I may be wrong, and the almighty dollar may speak louder, but from what the developers themselves said and the actions they took in becoming part of the “elite” inner circle of 1st party Sony studios who get to share each other’s tech… There will be no GTA5 announcement at MS and I doubt they will even be at MS’s show, period. Rockstar San Diego may be though, timed exclusive DLC on RDR..
