Rumor: Assassin’s Creed III may have online co-op

With Assassin’s Creed III, it’s easy to see that Ubisoft would want to implement something that could set it apart from the rest of the series. Cooperative online multiplayer may be just the thing to put a spring back in the Assassin’s Creed franchise’s step.

On the game’s official description on the Xbox Live Marketplace, it had said that the game would feature 2-player online co-op, as well as up to 8-player competitive online. The detail about the co-op gameplay has since been removed, either due to a mistake in description or the fact that Ubisoft still wants that part to be a surprise.

The descriptor for 8-player competitive online gameplay is still there, though, so it is clear that Ubisoft wants fans to know that the multiplayer seen in previous installments is making a return. While multiplayer may not be completely new to the series, the idea of online co-op could be very intriguing to some players.
