Sony confirms Gran Turismo 5 before Christmas

Yesterday, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that Gran Turismo 6 was already in development despite the fact that Gran Turismo 5 has yet to receive a solid release date. However, speaking with Siliconera today, Sony’s Peter Dille reinforces the idea that Gran Turismo 5 will hit retail shelving prior to Christmas of this year. Of course, this gives Sony all the way until December 24th to make good on that confirmation.

Dille was sure to clarify that they “haven’t put an exact date” on Gran Turismo 5 yet, but consumers should expect it in time for the Holiday break.

“Yeah, Kazunori came out with a comment that they are working on a few last things. He apologized to the community, but explained it is coming before Christmas. We haven’t put a date to that yet, but we will just as soon as we get word from him when he’s done.”

There are many speculated dates being thrown out right now from November 30th to December 3rd all the way up to December 15th; however, until Sony finally gives us all an exact date, I wouldn’t hold your breath for any of the previously rumored. It’s been a long wait thus far, so it’s at least comforting to know the wait should come to an end within the next 50 days or so.

Well, there’s still no guarantee that it will come out this year. It has been delayed so many times… I will believe it once the GT5 disc is in my hands. I’m really sick of waiting, just release the game already!
