Sony continues to outsell Wii + 360 in Japan

For the fourth week in a row, Sony’s PlayStation 3 has continued its strong sales increase by outselling the competition combined once more. This past week, September 27th to October 4th, PlayStation 3 shifted 37,000 consoles according to Famitsu magazine. This is more than the combined amount of the Nintendo Wii (32,000) and the Xbox 360 (2,600). While it’s great to see the PlayStation continue to sell well and gain on marketshare, we feel this will be the last week it outsells the Nintendo Wii in any territory.

Considering the Wii’s $50 price drop around the globe, Nintendo is likely to begin to see sales increases starting in the month of October and continuing forward throughout the Holiday season. This shouldn’t be too much of a concern with Sony though, as the company has always claimed that the Next Generation race was between Microsoft and themselves.

We’ve included the Famitsu numbers below.

DSL 6600
DSi 57000
PSP 55000
Wii 32000
PS3 37000
PS2 2800
360 2600

  2. Japan really hates the 360

  3. Lolz PS2 is kicking Xbox’s ass 😀 😀

  4. I wonder why the Japanese don’t like the 360 that much when it’s got pretty good japanese games(you know, like dating sims, simulation….and porn lol)(plus, the PS3 has that infamous ‘Sony Check’, the process that doesn’t let explicit content on the PS3’s games)
I mean, there are many otakus in Japan(obviously)
