Sony sells 1 Million PlayStation 3 Slims in the span of 2 weeks

Speaking at the Tokyo Game Show’s Keynote, Kaz Hirai has revealed that Sony has managed to sell over one million consoles since the launch of the PlayStation 3 Slim. This should surprise no one as the company had slashed the units overall price to $299 with the launch of the SKU. However, the fact that Sony is continuing to sell at such an impressive rate is something that should not be overlooked. While many feel this sales spike will not last, history proves otherwise.

We only need to look back to the PlayStation 2 to see the ramifications that the PlayStation 2 Slim displayed upon its release. If Sony’s third console can consume the market like the PS2 Slim did with its arrival, we could be looking at an entirely new console war by the end of this year.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t this mean they have sold a total of 1 million PS3s including all SKUs since the release of the Slim and not necessarily sold 1 million slims?
