Visceral Games' Dead Space 2 is given a visceral unveiling in its first official game trailer. Most recently offering gamers Dante's Inferno, Visceral Games returns to its horror action franchise Dead Space. Considered by many to be one of this generation's best original intellectual properties, the sequel promises to up the anti.

Dead Space 2 sees Isaac Clarke return in a fight against the Necromorphs. From the following trailer you'll find that the game is set to be even more horrific than its predecessor. Only over-18s should continue on as the short reveal trailer is out to scare.

Dead Space 2 should be out for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this year (but may fall into 2011). You can find screenshots of the game in our Dead Space 2 gallery.

EA's latest fiscal results have prompted the publisher to release its list of upcoming titles, announced and otherwise. These include The Sims 3 on consoles, a new Epic shooter and a new Dragon Age from BioWare. Incidentally, Dragon Age: Origins has now sold 3.2 million units worldwide after releasing in the autumn of 2009.

Below you'll find a screenshot of EA's expected fiscal-2011 (from April 2010 to March 2011) releases, unearthing three Need for Speed games, no doubt including Criterion's effort. You'll also spot that Dead Space 2 won't make 2010, alongside the new Dragon Age, a downloadable action title, and a new shooter from Epic.

We expect that the latter Epic video game is from their People Can Fly studio in Poland, since EA lists themselves as co-publishers. People Can Fly's video game was previously announced as coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Dead Space 2 is for the first time listed for handhelds, though this time with the omission of the PC, despite being announced for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in December last year. This may be a mistake, so if we hear otherwise from EA we'll let you know. You can find the rest of EA's fiscal-2011 titles in the following clickable image. Also we can't spot Mirror's Edge 2...which is a damn shame.

EA has officially announced Visceral Games' sequel to the award-winning horror game Dead Space. The developer is currently working on Dante's Inferno, a promising action game that comes to the PlayStation 3 in February next year.

Today EA announced Dead Space 2, where Isaac Clarke will return for another heart-pounding adventure as he takes the fight to the Necromorphs.

Debuting new tools to slice and dice his enemies, Dead Space 2 will see Isaac wield his infamous plasma cutter.

Nick Earl, senior VP and group general manager at EA, commented:

Like so many gamers worldwide, we love the Dead Space franchise and are very excited to announce a new game in the series.

Visceral Games is quickly becoming known for delivering high-quality, action-packed games. Dead Space 2 is on target to deliver a jaw-dropping experience gamers won’t soon forget.

Dead Space launched in 2008, enjoying a metacritic just one point off 90/100. It also showed how a modern horror video game should be done, embarrassing Capcom's Resident Evil 5.

Steve Papoutsis, executive producer on Dead Space 2, added:

We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey.

The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing.

In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.

Dead Space 2 is in development for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. A release date has yet to be announced, but remember that PS3 gamers can get their hands on a Dante's Inferno demo this Thursday.
