This is how Gran Turismo 5 should sound

If you’ve been listening carefully for the arrival of Gran Turismo 5, you’d better hope this is the sound you’ll hear. When Polyphony Digital’s game eventually races round the corner, it would be nice if it sounds as good as it looks. In fact, we’d be super GT happy if the following examples could be achieved.

But in a way we hope that Polyphony isn’t listening, because we’d hate to take the blame for causing an even longer wait for our beloved GT5. Still, one franchise feature that’s oft been criticised, apart from trees, is the sounds of its many cars — this just doesn’t seem to have had as much love as the visuals. GT5 cars sound too clean, not dirty and mechanical like they should.

The following videos prove the point. YouTube user Spyker has combined leaked footage of GT5, courtesy of Mimaximax, with real engine sounds. The first video features the Honda ARTA NSX and the second shows off Toyota’s Petronas SC430. With sound provided by real life race performances, we’re given a good example of what we might be seeing in the future of racing game sound. It’s just a shame that this won’t make it into GT5. Whenever the game comes out that is…release date announcement soon, actual release later. Enjoy.

  1. Thats good sound. Wouldnt have any idea how realistic they are to a certain car but the sound of engines throttiling away is always nice to hear. Also looks amazing visuals wise

  2. That sounds pretty damn awesome!

It Looks and Sounds very very good, So these sounds won’t make it in GT5? its a Shame. Least the visuals and physics seems very top notch, now we just need to hear a release date XD

  4. Wow, that’s some nice work.

Shame its all conceptual, but hopefully this is kinda how GT5 ends up!

Always thought sound in GT5 was lacking. Games like Ferrari/Supercar Challenge have made the cars sound a lot more raw and real. The sound of a Formula One car is another good example, they’re so raspy and constantly burbling IRL, yet in GT5 Prologue it was way too polished and clean.

Hoping all of these delays have allowed the sound blokes a little more creative time to work on engine sounds and authenticity.

  5. wow……i hope GT5 ends up being like this! i cant wait for this……too many people have been waiting for this for years!!

    release it already poly!!

  6. If i see one more basterding teaser trailer for this game consider me dead by suicide.

  7. i dont think anybody gives that much emphases on sound when ur negotiating a corner in GT when ur in the lead. But that does sound and wouldn’t hurt if GT doesn’t ends up with that sound

  8. “Hoping all of these delays……”
I keep seeing similar posts like this everywhere. Where do people get multiple delays from?? Last time I checked GT5 only been delayed once. Shocking isn’t it?
On topic- The sounds in GT never bothered me. The driving physics, accurate car models and accurate tracks are the most important to me. Everything else is a bonus.

  9. @taus90 Sound is very important imo, I want to hear the car scream like a raped ape while humping a turn in 1st place!

  10. @taus90: idk about that, sound is quite vital to the experience! and seeing as it took them so damn long to release the game, it better have superb sound effects!

  11. I feel GT has previously lacked in sound so hoping this one is good.

“i dont think anybody gives that much emphases on sound when ur negotiating a corner in GT when ur in the lead. But that does sound and wouldn’t hurt if GT doesn’t ends up with that sound”

Completely agree. I don’t care about the Sound THAT much but still like you said, it wouldn’t hurt at all.

“@taus90 Sound is very important imo, I want to hear the car scream like a raped ape while humping a turn in 1st place!”

You sir are sick. You might want to see a psychiatrist lol XD

  13. Wow that is awesome, I don’t get it why aren’t they doing this it makes the car sound alive its terrifying, its like in cod games I never feel the sound of the guns is right. it detracts. You would have thought this was as important as the graphics.

  14. Lol just played the two to my girlfriend…she thought the real sound would annoy….she doesn’t get it scott …she really doesn’t.
