Top 8 reasons to buy Uncharted 2

In roughly two weeks, the sequel to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is set to land on retail shelves. Like other PS3 exclusives, the title is expected to sell well, but not over-the-top like a lot of the other guys. Unfortunately for Sony, exclusives haven’t sold very strongly in comparison and it’s about time that starts happening. To help promote the title and educate PlayStation gamers as to why they need to buy Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, we’ve come up with this Top 8 list of reasons. They’re facts, not opinion. Get over it.

8. Nolan North
Is there any more iconic of a figure in the industry right now when it comes to voiceovers? I don’t think so. Nolan North’s voiceover resume is one of the best in the industry and you can find him in titles like Prince of Persia and Shadow Complex. However, North truly became an icon of the industry with his role as Nathan Drake in the original Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. As the face of PlayStation for the third generation, North can rest assured that he has solidified himself in the PlayStation Hall of Fame. If it existed – in fact, we may have to start one!

7. There has never been a better time to support a Sony exclusive
It’s finally time to start supporting Sony PlayStation exclusives. Let’s be honest with ourselves guys, we’ve done a piss poor job holding down the fort and showing the love that we need to show for the exclusives that support our console. When you look at the sales figures for titles like Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank, inFamous, and other various exclusives, you come to the conclusion that we’re not buying enough of them. With the information revealed that Sony has sold over 1,000,000 PlayStation 3’s over the course of the last month, I think it’s about time that we show them we’re supporting their hardware with the great software it comes with. We need to make Uncharted 2 the best selling PS3 Exclusive because it’s about to be crowned the best exclusive of this generation!

6. It’s currently the highest rated exclusive of this generation
Right now, Metacritic.com is displaying Uncharted 2: Among Thieves at 98% rated. That would make it the highest rated exclusive of this console generation. Yes, fanboys, that makes it even higher rated than your previous Halos and Zeldas. While this is an achievement that was completely unexpected by some, I’m sure Naughty Dog isn’t taking it for granted at all. We’re sure they are already hard at work realizing that Uncharted 3 is going to have to top it all.

5. Even Infinity Ward says you should buy it
Have you ever heard of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Of course you have, it won something like 80 industry Game of the Year awards and completely changed the way we love to play first-person shooters. Despite Infinity Ward releasing the sequel to their stellar franchise in November of this year, the development team couldn’t resist sharing with that public that everyone needs to play and buy Uncharted 2. I think when you gain the support of your main competition for the coveted Game of the Year award, you kind of win by default. Therefore, don’t be an idiot – pick up Uncharted 2 or we’ll look at you as though you support terrorism, because if you don’t support Modern Warfare’s opinion, you might as well be working with Al Queda.

4. Multiplayer Component
One of the biggest gripes about the first Uncharted title was that it lacked a multiplayer component to extend its replayability. This is obviously something that Naughty Dog took to heart as the developer has taken it upon themselves to create a fabulous online component. While players have been playing the beta for weeks now and it has just been recently opened to the public, it goes without saying that this addition will add a lot of value to the $60 price tag – making Uncharted 2: Among Thieves very worth of every penny spent.

3. Nathan Drake
It’s hard to sum Nathan Drake up into a couple of words, which is why I’ve booked an entire point to him. It only makes sense. Nathan Drake is to PlayStation 3 as Lara Croft was to the original PlayStation. He’s the consoles new artifact hunting, treasure looting, badass gun wielding poster boy and we love him for it. Drake not only throws witty comments around like Peyton Manning throws a football, but he also isn’t too shabby with the ladies. We’re sure we’re in for another round of good fun with the release of Uncharted 2, so long as Drake is front and center.

2. Have you played the first one?
This point is just a prelude to our #1 reason, which to us, makes perfect sense. After all, Point number 2 always comes before the #1 reason, right? Anyway – The first installment into the Uncharted franchise known as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune featured the previously mentioned Nathan Drake and was a display of beautiful visuals and tight game play. The replayability of the title alone was worthy enough of a purchase, but the added effect of *gasp/spoilers* zombies *gasp/spoiler* threw a lot of people off base. We suggest checking out the first title which still retails for roughly $35 if you’re wanting to get your full Uncharted fix before Among Thieves releases.

1. It’s $#@%in’ Uncharted.
In case you’ve been in an asylum, jail or even homeless for the last two years of your life; you really have no excuse to not know what the Uncharted gaming franchise is. While we’ve watched rehashes of franchises such as Tomb Raider come and go, Naughty Dog has created a fantastic series of titles that draws in and engulfs the user within the game’s atmosphere. The voiceover team is top notch with high production values that will put the majority of other games to shame — if not all games.

If that wasn’t enough to draw you in, it’s important to remember that Uncharted takes the best parts of your memories of legends like Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and a little something extra and combines them into one concoction that is sure to satisfy your appetite and hunger for entertainment. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves finds its way onto store shelves on October 13th and is currently the leading candidate for Game of the Year. You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind – or Helen Keller to not enjoy this title.

  1. Totally agree! As soon as I saw that E3 vid where the building is falling and everything on the floor is sliding away from Drake I knew this will be the game of the year! I have played through the 1st one like 9-10 times and plan on doing the same with this one!

  11. Adam Sessler says it’s the best single-player action game ever made!

    I agree….

  12. I originally meant on waiting until this game dropped to £20 or £30 before purchasing, but after playing the Beta, there’s absolutely no reason to do that. This game is THE best shooter I’ve played, and one of the best PS3 games I’ve played. This definitely deserves our support.

  13. Looks sick, the demo/beta is greater than great, its awsome, although there is ignored features but its exellenet in what it did

  14. Too bad Uncharted 2 couldn’t sustain the 98% Metacritic average. Nothing wrong at all with a 96 though. Easily the best game to grace my PS3.

  15. what you heard were lies, the online is great

  16. ahhh, also i played the online demos….it was pretty good, but it takes FOREVER to kill someone…i at many times unload a whole clip in a guy and he would still live :\
