US and EU PlayStation network down, may last 1-2 days

Yesterday, US and EU PlayStation Network services went down with no apparent cause being listed for the downtime. Sony’s director of corporate communications & social media Patrick Seybold confirmed today that Sony is aware of the certain network issues, and that both regions should be back to working condition within a day or so.

“We are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running,” Seybold wrote on the official US PS Blog.

“Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we’ll update you again as soon as we can.”

No further details were given about the issue, however expect to have things functional by the weekend.

  5. Wow, I convince all of my 360 fanboy friends to buy the superior PS3 version of Portal 2… And now I look like an idiot cause we all can’t play co-op. Awesome job Sony, and on my only full week off…

  6. Still no service been down since yesterday morning this is a little ridiculous. I guess we cant complain much since we dont pay for it. If i had the playstation plus tho i would be raising hell. This does make all of us ps3 users look stupid to the xbox people. All of them are still playing while we sit and wait. Another argument for the xbox fans to use against us. Starting to wonder why i am so loyal to the ps3.

Sony has made a few announcements regarding the issue. Apparently it’s an internal issue and should be fixed soon.
