Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 confirmed with teaser trailer

We have more news coming out from Capcom’s Captivate event; the confirmation of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. Yes, the classic side-scrolling game returns in a PSN and XBLA sequel.

The game is now developed by Fat Shark, taking the place of the previously closed GRIN studio. The Swedish developer is actually home to a number of original GRIN developers. You may recognise the studio from their upcoming multiplayer shooter Lead and Gold.

As for Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, like its prequel, we expect the game to meet the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, though the (lopsided) trailer only sports logos for the latter two. You may have also gathered from this article’s title image that the game has been ‘re-engineered’; this is in reference to the arrival of a jump button. Nice. So that’s Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. What else Capcom?

[UPDATE] – Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 will be headed to the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live in Q1 2011. The press release reads:

“Nathan Spencer returns as a daring, elite soldier equipped with special bionic abilities. In the sequel to 2008’s retro-flavored sidescroller, Spencer will have to face his greatest challenge yet as General Sabio, a new technologically sophisticated foe, is on the brink of launching a deadly missile attack. In addition to his trademark bionic grappling hook used to traverse lush new environments, Nathan Spencer has upgraded his abilities to include the much requested jump move.”

  1. Awesome, I loved the first one. Hopefully we’ll get another 3D game, one that actually is fun to play.

  2. Nice, I really should get round to finishing the first one.
Is this sequel a remake of an old game or is it a totally new entry?
