BioWare announces Mass Effect anime film for 2012

If you’re a fan of anime or the Mass Effect franchise, you’re going to be pleased to find out that BioWare is teaming up with Funimation in North America and T.O. Entertainment in Japan to produce the very first Mass Effect featured film. As an anime fan, this is extremely exciting as I enjoyed the works done previously with Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno — I’m sure something set in the Mass Effect universe is going to be even better.

Announced today, BioWare has revealed that Casey Hudson will be on board as the executive producer of the film and that you can expect a familiar tale of space exploration with dangerous aliens and mysterious planets.

“Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us,” commented Casey Hudson.

As many of you may already be aware, Funimation has also already started production on a Dragon Age film, so having the opportunity to start in on the Mass Effect universe is something else they’re very “excited” about.

  1. Ohh NOoooh. Cancel the movie plans, now they’re trying to push out an anime? The difference with Halo and the 343 crap, everyone knew Halo was about to be over. ME3 is still a game to be produced.

  2. As long as it’s not as bad as the Dead Space animated movies. The first one was watchable since the game was superb, but Aftermath was a whole new level of bad. So, I’m hesitant to see Cmdr Shepherd suffer the same fate.

  3. just dont fuck it up like mass effect 3
