This morning, Sony have announced that they have acquired developer Sucker Punch, creators of inFAMOUS and Sly Cooper, making them a  part of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios.

Brian Fleming, the managing partner over at Sucker Punch Productions, had the following quote to offer about the acquisition:

“We’ve enjoyed an incredible relationship with Sony that has allowed us to combine our creative design capabilities with their guidance to make some of the best franchises to hit the PlayStation platforms. Equally important, the relationship with SCE has provided us the flexibility and trust to take creative risks and invent new properties.”

With this, Sucker Punch become the sixteenth studio to join the ranks of SCE Worldwide Studios. With the studio making all but one game for Sony consoles over the course of 14 years, the only question is why this didn’t happen sooner.
