Man Furismo Jive. It’s all the rage in the future, tearing its way through living rooms as it takes over PS3 gamer’s lives. It’s the game that’s been on its way for what feels like forever, but soon we’ll be blessed. Polyphony Digital’s game could be out before the snow hits the ground.
Hell, it’s the release period we imagined, but with LittleBigPlanet 2 scheduled for Winter 2010, it’s good to hear that Gran Turismo 5 could be out before. Where did we hear this little nugget? None other than Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Andrew House. He responded to the PlayStation Forum question “which game is going to be the ‘big one’ after GT5?”
“I think we have a fantastic line-up of games coming out later this year and into 2011. We have just announced LittleBigPlanet 2, which is very exciting. The original game changed the way developers now look at developing games and the things Media Molecule has done with the sequel are truly incredible. I can’t wait for LBP2 to come out and can promise you that it will be great.”
Of course, House most likely couldn’t talk about a game other than LittleBigPlanet 2, since it’s the only newly announced game (apart from Killzone 3 most recently). Though we’d doubt House would be stupid enough to answer a question on what’s coming after GT5 with a game that’s releasing before.
When asked whether Gran Turismo 5 was just a myth, House adds:
“Absolutely not. It’s looking amazing and will be out soon.”
Maybe it’s auto-immune. Wait, wrong show.

Seriously is anyone still hyped for this game? Its been delayed so many times and they’ve been showing the game even before Ps3 was released…
over four years and 80 million dollars for a racing game is just absurd ps3 fanboys…
ps: halo reach have same release date..
It’s been delayed only once actually – a release date was only announced for March 2010 and never before. They’ve worked on other games during its creation eg. GT PSP.
And GT5 Prologue brought in $60 million – so it pretty much funded GT5 development.
Nice to see it’ll actually ship this year.
I have gran turismo 1 , 2 , prologue and psp i’ve played them all
I’ll get gt5 when ever it arrives here
@pp
Only delayed once.
LOL @ pp – Halo Reach? You think a second – rate FPS will stand up to GT in sales?
Here’s a fun fact for you – the Gran Turismo franchise has sold over 53 million games since it’s creation, Halo has barely shifted 27 million.
Here’s another one – the highest selling GT game was GT 3 which hit 15 million with ease. The best Halo ever did was Halo 3′s rather embarassing 10 million – barely two thirds of what GT accomplished with it’s eyes closed.
10 million is a joke and Halo: Reach probably won’t even hit that, it’ll probably fall somewhere between 4 – 7 million.
Face the facts kid, Halo has never gotten the better of Gran Turismo in sales and it never will, in fact, Microsoft get more embarassed every time the release a new Halo game because each attempt now if further away than the last.
Still……you can always pretend, right? LOL, Halo: Reach…….what a joke. Hey, while we’re in imagination land – you know what else might outsell GT 5? Crackdown 2 – LMAO!!!
@Tom Ato
I agree. I bet there will be two more halo games next year. I never did understand what was so fascinating about the halo games. I played the first one and it only made me want to play Quke II or Unreal tournament. Is it an age thing??
Woot GT5 before LBP 2 is win! So we have a good general idea when the game is coming!
@ zevehcj – i’m not sure. Halo is really all Microsoft have in the way of exclusives, so fanboys like pp desperatley cling to it like a cat clinging to a ball of string (If you imagine that the ball of string was the only one the cat had, or will ever have, then you can understand it’s desperation not to let it go).
Microsoft are equally desperate because their exclusive – less console has constantly finished last in worldwide hardware sales every month since September 2009. So there’s a kind of a mutual agreement between Microsoft and Xbox 360 owners that Halo is all they have, or will ever have. So they release as many Halo games as they possibly can in as short a time as possible to try and hide the fact that there’s nothing else coming out to fill the shelves.
If you look at the last 15 months of exclusive releases:
PS3 – Killzone 2, Infamous, Demon’s Souls, God Of War Collection, Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time, Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, God Of War 3, Yakuza 3, Modnation Racers, 3D Dot Game Heroes.
Xbox 360 – Halo: Wars, Halo 3: ODST, a couple of “Coming soon” videos for Halo: Reach.
It’s not really an age thing, it’s more of a “This is all we got” thing.
@PP
It’s only ever had one delay,and that was the japanese launch for march.
“80 million dollars”
It was officially $60m in november 09,and as mentioned above the sales from GT5p have covered development costs,it’s instant profit for Sony.
You must remember the new engine is ready for the next PS console,it’s already been seen running on 4 PS3′s so scaling up is not a issuethey hive fully scanned cars ready for next gen.
pp gtfo no one likes a fanboy Tom Ato same for you sony or MS fanboy none are wanted all are annoying. pp people are hyped your stupid , Tom Ato same go’s for you top selling game on the ps3 are Gta 4: 6.52m Gt5 Prologue : 3.73m MGS4:4.75m MW2 7.89m not a single game that i could find hit Ten Million copies sold, but the 360 on the other hand has halo 3 10.98m mw2:10.78m gta4:7.80m good fight.

Cool the throwing around of “fanboy”. Just respect differing opinions, present your own and try to stay civil.
@ slimguy94 – Gran Turismo 3 sold 15 million copies with ease – look it up. The fact that it did it on the PS2 and not the PS3 is irrelevant, fact is, a Sony exclusive game sold 15 million copies worldwide, no Microsoft exclusive has ever come close to touching that and judging by the quality of their games, never will.
Halo: Reach will hit 7 million at best, it’ll be left in GT’s dust by the end of the year.
Wow seriously enough about sales. Games are for our own entertainment, when does sales bring us our fun and enjoyment? Never. Now just let it go.
